Footings anyone?

The cement guy has arrived...yeah! The footings have been poured and hopefully the blocks will arrive tomorrow and the walls will begin to go up. The weather is growing cold and we are looking forward to closing up the house again!

More house pictures

Here are a couple more pictures of the house. Block will be laid for the walls and the hope is to have this process started on Thursday. The weather here is growing colder and as you can see there is not a lot of insulation on the one side of the house.

Digging deep!

The complete basement has now been dug. My husband finds it awesome to not use the backdoor to enter the house....I have warned him that he is not the only creature to have that ability. What possibly would someone do if a skunk came into their basement?? Honestly, I had not thought of a skunk...I was thinking more along the lines of a raccoon. Goodness, a skunk...I doubt I will sleep tonight! I am also sharing some pics of the girls borrowing Grandpas new toys. They have probably put more miles on than when the original owners bought them. I remember riding on these while in high school and have warned the girls to go slooooow because they can and do flip.

And we are raised...

Up 1/2 of an inch off the foundation. Our major house repair has begun and we hope without any problems. As you can see from the pictures only 1/2 of the home is being supported. This section will have a complete basement dug out beginning tomorrow. The plan is to have a 18x30 basement with 9 foot ceilings. The purpose of this new room will be a family room.

Long time no see....

Life has been crazy and I am showing my daughters how easy blogging can be! They want to start one to show the life on the farm with all of their crazy pets! How do you like this pic? This is a picture of Otis our baby colt from Lily the Mom. They are both mini horses and poor Otis is in the process of losing his baby fur. So far he looks like he will be completely black, we are hoping to see some white spots under all that fuzz!

Back From Vacation!

We are home from vacation! We drove to visit my sister Jennie and her husband in Indiana. Nothing like the Country Mouse visiting the City Mouse! We had a lot of fun seeing some of the sites and just relaxing with Jennie and Chad.

I am including a pic of the girls at the Indy Speedway....we just don't get racing. It was well worth visiting and I would recommend it to anyone.

I am glad to be home...my flowerbeds are looking amazing and many flowers started to bloom while we were away. I need to take some pictures and share!

The Favorite Son-In-Law?

I love my sisters and we often have small jokes about who is the favorite son-in-law of our parents. Remember this is simply a joke and my parents have NEVER expressed favortism towards any one of their daughters. They are awesome in this respect; I hope I am showing my daughters I love and support them equally.

Anyway, I wanted to show a recent pic of the new favorite! My Eddie has moved into first place while playing a white water rafting game at Action City. They were able to secure the top score! Woohoo! Awesome job!
Mom and I played the game first...I kept wondering why the screen told us to stop paddling so fast. I guess one must know how to steer a raft! I do feel Mom and I got a better workout!

Enjoy the pictures and remember to enjoy your family every chance you can; they really should be a very valuable part of one's life!

The final pic is one my middle daughter, Ella, took one night. We very seldom see such a beautiful sunset...living in a valley does hold its disadvantages.

Amazed!

I just got back home from a weekend with my sister and family at Minnesota's Mall of America! The Scrap Fest was AWESOME! I am exhausted and very satisfied I attended. My greatest memories:

1) My sister Jennie snoring...
2) Standing in line with Jennie and her telling me about all the blogs she reads from the various reps...
3) Jennie's new friend...she was neat.
4) All the great ideas...I really have NO talent!
5) Survival of my first 6 hour crop; it was SOOOOO past my bedtime.
6) Seeing the excitment and thrill in my daughters while building their own bear. They are still talking about it!

There were so many more and I hope to keep the inspiriation going and create homemade cards for Christmas this year.
